How landscapers get recommended by AI

Yard projects start with research — and more homeowners now do that research by asking ChatGPT or Gemini “who's a good landscaper near me?” or “who can fix up an overgrown yard?” Landscaping is also intensely seasonal, so the companies AI names in spring book out their whole year. Here's how to be one of them — honestly, and without touching your website.

1. Nail your Google Business Profile

Google's local data feeds AI answers heavily. Pick the most specific primary category that fits — “Landscaper,” “Lawn care service,” or “Landscape designer” — and list every service explicitly (lawn maintenance, sod installation, irrigation and sprinkler repair, tree trimming, hardscaping, artificial turf). AI recommends the business whose profile plainly matches the project the homeowner described.

2. Win the seasonal windows

Landscaping demand spikes in spring and early summer. Post seasonal updates on your profile — spring cleanups, irrigation start-ups, drought-tolerant conversions — so your listing looks alive exactly when homeowners are asking. Assistants favor businesses whose public presence matches what's needed right now.

3. Reviews with before-and-after specifics

A review that says “transformed our overgrown backyard in a week” does double duty: it builds your rating and tells AI exactly what you do well. After every finished job, ask the happy customer for an honest review that mentions the work. (Never buy or incentivize reviews — it's deceptive and against the rules.)

4. Get on the directories AI reads

Angi, Yelp, Thumbtack, Houzz, and the local “best landscapers in [city]” lists are exactly what assistants cite. Claim and complete those listings with a consistent name, address, and phone — and keep project photos current where the platform supports them, because complete listings get cited over sparse ones.
